About Reimagined Learning Community

Reimagined Learning Community (RLC) is an innovative Educational Community Non-Profit organization based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Established in 2016, RLC emerged from a vision to transform the traditional education system and cultivate a more inclusive and sustainable approach to learning. Since its inception, the organization has embraced the principles of Regenerative Cultures, Unlearning, and Restoration to inspire and empower learners of all ages.

RLC's philosophy centers on creating a learning environment that not only imparts knowledge but also fosters a sense of interconnectedness and responsibility toward the world. By integrating indigenous practices and focusing on holistic development, RLC encourages learners to explore their identities, connect with their cultural heritage, and build meaningful relationships with their communities. The aim is to nurture compassionate and conscious individuals who are equipped to contribute positively to society.

Unlearning is a cornerstone of RLC's approach. Recognizing that traditional paradigms often limit creativity and suppress individuality, the organization seeks to dismantle these restrictive norms. Through experiential learning and a flexible curriculum, RLC encourages participants to question assumptions, explore alternative perspectives, and develop critical thinking skills. This process of unlearning is seen as a pathway to personal growth, cultural healing, and social transformation.

As a regenerative learning community, RLC is committed to sustainability in all its forms. The organization incorporates eco-friendly practices into its operations and curriculum, emphasizing the importance of environmental stewardship. RLC also values social regeneration, promoting inclusivity, equity, and justice. By cultivating a sense of shared responsibility, the community aims to create a ripple effect, inspiring others to adopt regenerative practices in their own lives.

Since its founding, RLC has grown to encompass a diverse community of learners, educators, and collaborators. The organization offers a range of programs and initiatives, from early childhood education to adult learning, ensuring that individuals from all backgrounds have access to meaningful educational opportunities. Through partnerships with local organizations and engagement with indigenous communities, RLC strives to create a network of support that fosters continuous learning and collective growth.

Our Vision

Unlearning, as a core value embraced by Reimagined Learning, represents a fundamental shift in the traditional approach to education. It acknowledges that learning is not solely about acquiring new knowledge and skills but also about letting go of outdated beliefs, assumptions, and ways of thinking that no longer serve us in a rapidly changing world.

At Reimagined Learning, ceremony serves as a sacred space where we come together to celebrate achievements, mark milestones, and honor the interconnectedness of all beings. Whether it's a graduation ceremony, a community gathering, or a simple ritual to welcome the changing seasons, ceremony provides a powerful opportunity for reflection, gratitude, and collective expression.

Restoration stands as a cornerstone value within the framework of Reimagined Learning, embodying our commitment to healing, renewal, and the regeneration of both individuals and communities. In our understanding, restoration goes beyond mere repair; it encompasses a holistic process of revitalization that seeks to address the root causes of imbalance and disconnection within ourselves and the world around us.
